Cross Pollinating Cherry Trees | Perfect Partners
-
In this collection, you’ll receive:
- 1 ‘Summer Sun’ Cherry Tree
- 1 ‘Lapins Cherokee’ Cherry Tree
- How frustrating is it having a fruit tree with no fruit? It’s like switching on the TV and seeing that no channels are available, or picking up your guitar only to find its strings have disappeared. Kinda…
- And whilst cherry trees are (genuinely) lovely ornamental trees in their own right – c’mon, those flowers are just something else – it’s those little tart, red flavour bombs that really take them to the next level! And the best way to guarantee that fruit? Get a couple of trees to pollinate one another!
- Both ‘Lapins Cherokee’ and ‘Summer Sun’ are brilliant varieties; the former produces excellent cherries with a rich, complex flavour profile whilst the latter yields devilishly moreish fruit with exceptional sweetness.
- ‘Lapins Cherokee’ is self-fertile so it doesn’t technically need a partner, whereas ‘Summer Sun’ is only partially self-fertile and does better with another pollinator. But hey, even if good ol’ Lapins doesn’t technically *need* a partner, no tree likes to be lonely!
- Eat your cherries fresh, bake them in a pie or cook them down with sugar to make a sticky jam. Or why not make your very own homemade glace cherries?
- So, get yourself this perfect pairing and watch as they get to work. After all, teamwork makes the dream work and all that…
